Bible Study Tools: Where Do I Start?

This guide contains many of Barbour Library's bible study resources, including reference works, commentaries, Internet sites, subject links, and more.

Bible Dictionaries & Encyclopedias

Bible dictionaries and encyclopedias provide brief articles and definitions related to the people, places, and things that are found throughout the Bible. Entries often include bibliographies, which can be invaluable for further study.

Old & New Testament Introductions

Bible introductions and surveys usually dedicate a chapter to each book of the Bible. These chapters may include major themes, structural outlines, authorship, and other information relevant to the particular book.

Online Reference Resources

These resources may be accessed remotely by current PTS students, faculty, and staff, and may be accessed by non-PTS library users in the library only (via personal laptop or in the computer lab).
